Evangelical
"Let us go forth and proclaim the Gospel. Thanks be to God, Alleluia! Alleluia!" —Holy Communion
We root our common rule of life in the Gospel, from which flourishes our common prayers, common worship, and common service in love for God and for others.
Biblical
"Holy Scripture contains all things necessary to salvation: so that whatever is not read therein, nor may be proved thereby, is not to be required of any man, that it should be believed as an article of the Faith, or be thought requisite or necessary to salvation." —Article VI
The Scriptures fill the contents of the Book of Common Prayer, which we sing and pray to form our thoughts, emotions, wills, and daily acts in worship to the Lord. The Bible truly is our Anglican way of life.
Spiritual
"Almighty and everliving God, we most heartily thank thee, for that thou dost vouchsafe to feed us, who have duly received these holy mysteries, with the spiritual food of the most precious Body and Blood of thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ; and dost assure us thereby of thy favour and goodness towards us; and that we are very members incorporate in the mystical body of thy Son, which is the blessed company of all faithful people." —1662 Communion Thanksgiving
The same Spirit who met the prophets, enlightened the wise men, and empowered the martyrs continues to guide, empower, and encourage His Church on earth as He unites us with His heavenly Church in the communion of saints. The Spirit blesses us through material means such as water for baptism, wine for eucharist, and oil for healing, just as Christ united our humanity with His divinity. The sacraments and spiritual encounters demonstrate that the Lord of all spirits cares for the world He has made, both seen and unseen.
